The 96, 98, 00, and 01 Ice Hawk teams traveled to Toronto as a club for the 4th year in a row to take part as the only American teams once again in the Toronto Penguin Classic.
Well it was sure a ''Classic Event'' for ALL our American Lads this year as the Canadians truly out numbered us on every shift 7 to 5, well at least until the phantom penalty's were called....., sometimes two, slanting the playing field to a hometown 7on 4 or 7on 3 ......, oh canada, really ?
In years past the M.I.H.H.C. has enjoyed fair officiating and have enjoyed some Championships !
Hat's off this year to our 96's ,{only 2 lines and a awesome Goaltender- see team photo above} who battled into the Semi-Finals ~vs~ the home team the Toronto Penguins.
When the Tournament Director asked Coach Barrett to pick a game M.V.P. on the ice he exclaimed, " Give it to the Referee !" and walked away, as Don Cherry would say " beeeeauuuuuty !" 2 thumbs up !
Due to numerous complaints {Not only from the M.I.H.H.C. ,but other paying customers/participants} the Tournament Staff to their credit has lodged a complaint with the Greater Toronto Referee Association and are further investigating the allegations against referees, Spragge and Meltzer.
